Who we are
Work Remote SA ("we", "us", "our") operates the Remote Ready course and platform. We are the data controller for personal information collected through our website and course.
Information we collect
- Account data: name, email address, login credentials.
- Course activity: lesson progress, quiz results, certificates issued.
- Support messages: content of emails or contact-form submissions you send us.
- Usage & device data: IP address, browser, device identifiers, pages viewed, and basic telemetry.
- Payment data: handled by our Merchant of Record, Paddle. We receive limited order metadata (order ID, product, amount) – we do not see or store full card details.
How we use your information
- Create and manage your account and course access (contract performance).
- Deliver the course, issue certificates, and provide customer support (contract performance).
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and secure the platform (legitimate interests).
- Improve the product and understand aggregate usage (legitimate interests).
- Send transactional and, where you have opted in, marketing emails (consent).
- Comply with legal obligations (legal obligation).
Who we share information with
- Merchant of Record – Paddle: processes payments, subscriptions, tax, invoicing, and refunds on our behalf. Paddle acts as reseller for all orders. See Paddle's Privacy Notice.
- Infrastructure & service providers: hosting, database, email delivery, analytics, and customer-support tooling under written processing terms.
- Professional advisers: legal and accounting, where necessary.
- Authorities: where required by law or to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal information.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the course. When you close your account, we delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required to retain records (for example, tax and payment records held by Paddle).
Your rights
Subject to applicable law (including the South African POPIA and, where relevant, the UK/EU GDPR), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; and complain to a supervisory authority. International transfers
Some of our service providers are located outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures – including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege database policies – to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember settings. We may also use limited analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
